I have an upcoming oneworld RTW reward itinerary booked in J through QF - now the flights between Tokyo and Rome are operated by QR, with the first flight arriving in DOH at 3.30am and the onward connection to FCO departing 2.30pm, so 11 hours in transit in DOH. It's going to be way too early to go sightseeing in Doha so I was looking at some accommodation options.

I've read on QR's website that they offer complimentary accommodation in DOH for long layovers (between 8-24hrs) and was just wondering if anyone has had experience with this service when the ticket is not issued by QR itself?

I have a feeling that something like this would only be available if the ticket was issued by the airline itself, but being a RTW, that's unlikely to be the case unless you book the whole itinerary with QR.

Also one of the conditions is that "There is no connection of less than 8 hours available" - I wonder if "available" is taken to mean seats available or existence of flights even if seats are unavailable.

Well, Qatar Airways actually operates whole Hamad International Airport and its facilities, if airline provide accommodation, they will take you to The Airport Hotel in transit area, since it's operated by Qatar Airways.

Call Qatar Airways to confirm that.
