Air NZ's new frequent flyer lounge: a serviced office in Auckland

Does your frequent flyer card offer you a serviced office in the CBD? If it says "Air New Zealand Airpoints" or "Koru Club", it does now.
The Kiwi flag-carrier this week opened the doors of its Koru Central Auckland CBD business lounge to its top-tier frequent flyers and members of the Koru Club lounge program.
Up to now, Koru Central has been restricted to members of the airline's Above & Beyond corporate program.
Koru Central can be found inside the new Generator serviced office building in the Britomart area of Auckland's CBD.
Air New Zealand's Gold, Gold Elite and Koru Club members can use this serviced office on the days they fly in and out of Auckland.
That's especially useful if you're flying internationally out of Auckland in the evening but there's no late checkout available at your hotel.
But you'll need to be an Air New Zealand frequent flyer -- the deal doesn't extend to Air NZ's partner Virgin Australia or other members of the Star Alliance family.
"Koru Central is not available to frequent flyers from other airlines," an Air NZ spokesperson confirmed to Australian Business Traveller today.
Inside Koru Central
You'll find hot desks, sofas and armchairs inside Koru Central, plus a cafe/bar/lounge area and showers.
Meeting rooms are also available, giving Koru Central the benefits of both a lounge at the airport and a hotdesking serviced office in the city.
You also get 2GB per month of Internet on your Koru Central account, with extra data at NZ$5 (A$4) per GB.
Business services like a PA, dictation services, document production and everything else you'd need are also on tap at Generator member rates.

That's very smart marketing, a serviced office in the city for top frequent flyers! I'm surprised that Qantas or even Virgin haven't done something like this for Platinums, not their own lounge of course but have a serviced office company like Regus as a partner and Platinums get a certain amount of access. I'd find that very useful!

I'm curious to know how Koru Central compares in size to Qantas' MCA lounge in Sydney.
Would Qantas ever consider opening a mainstream lounge in Sydney CBD for Gold/Platinum frequent flyers flying that day? I know its implausible but one can dream...
