Cathay Pacific brings Airbus A350 onto Sydney-Hong Kong route
Cathay Pacific will fly its flagship Airbus A350 to Sydney from October 2019 as the airline slowly shifts the older Airbus A330s out of Australia.
From Oct 27 2019, the overnight CX111 flight from Hong Kong to Sydney and the CX110 Sydney-Hong Kong return leg will step up to an A350-900.
The A350 brings with it Cathay Pacific’s latest business class beds (an update to the current A330 and Boeing 777 design) with the 38 seats offering with more space to stretch out and sleep…
… along with more personal storage, a redesigned shell and a larger and sharper inflight entertainment screen.

Each of the 28 premium economy seats sports a padded leg rest...
… plus two inches of extra legroom compared to some of the airline’s other aircraft, and thoughtful touches such as this ‘tablet tray’ for those who prefer to watch their own entertainment en route.

There's also inflight Internet access, yours for US$10 (A$13) for one hour of browsing or US$20 (A$26) for the entire flight, with no data download limits.

This is Cathay Pacific's first Sydney-bound Airbus A350, although Cathay already flies the A350 to Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.
However, in an unexpected schedule shuffle, October 27 2019 will also see the daily CX161/CX162 service downgraded from a Boeing 777-300ER to an Airbus A330.

With a couple of CX flights to London coming up over the next two months you got me a bit excited there David. Having flown their A350 from AKL I must say their J seats are a step above the 777/330 offering, which were already a step above most other offerings bar QR

Wonder why they didn't roster the -1000 on the Sydney Route?

Presume they don’t need the capacity. Or the limited amount of -1000 they have are for now better utilised somewhere else.

Apparently as part of the changes, CX161/162 get switched from the B777 to the A330.

Not in their "fake" first class too. Sometime they offer 4-class flight which upgrades highest frequently flyers to those six seats, but treated as J guests.

It's a great plane, I've flown it London to Hong Kong return in business class. Very spacious and quiet. The only thing that let it down was the catering in business class. It was premium economy at best.

Interesting that the economy seats don’t make the 5 things we love about their new A350s. The economy seats are designed for weight saving and are horrific on the back. Like leaning against a stone wall. Only flew between Singapore and Hong Kong and would pity anyone doing Long haul. Good luck!

Hi, is there any update about this? Cx110 in June 2020 is still showing as a330, based on my reservation. I really prefer the a350 seat. Please help anyone with information/insight. B
