Now velocity does not earn points on Delta, what is the best option if flying delta? Pre-covid i'd fly delta premium a couple of times a year.

Have you considered Virgin Atlantic Flying Club? You can earn on Virgin Australia and Delta flights, along with Singapore Airlines, ANA, Air New Zealand, Air France/KLM and SAS.
I didn't as last time I flew with them has over 5 years ago. What benefits do they have that can be used in Australia?
