Hi,

Currently wife and l are both QFF Gold members and were looking to secure lifetime gold in a few years, but after flying Emirates Business and First to Europe are looking to make the switch to Emirate's FF Program. Even more so after returning Qantas Business back from Europe.

Just wanted to know peoples experiences with the program, ease to achieve and maintain status, is there a lifetime gold and does Emirates offer Status matches.

Obviously we both do a lot of internal travel in Australia but with two to three trips a year internationally Emirates is our choice from now on.

Hi MaximillianW,

I’m QFF Platinum (OW Emerald). Just recently I looked into whether it would be better to switch to the Emirates FF program. In the end I decided that for us it doesn’t stack up. We usually take four international trips a year, two of which are long haul European flights, either with Qantas or QF code share on Emirates. Both options give us FFPs and status credits that allow us to maintain Platinum status. We also do a lot of domestic travel almost all of which is covered by the points. By my reading of the Emirates program you need to do a lot more flying with them to get the same status and the points are not as useful for domestic travel.

Could you not fly on a QF ticket on EK metal and stick with QFF?

Thanks for your thoughts, yeah looking at their program would take a lot to attain/maintain their status. A far superior product by Emirates but long run might be better to pursue lifetime gold and then just fly with Emirates as much as possible.

Yeah thinking so, just wanted to take advantage of upgrades which isn't possible currently with flights on Emirates using QFF Points, although l keep reading that its coming this year? Just thought if we're aiming for lifetime status if its better we put our energy into Emirates.
