Just got back from a UK/Singapore trip.

Brisbane to Dubia on the long night hopper, 100% excellent service been nearly 3 years since my last 1st class trip with them and they did not disappoint. Still no Emirates lounge, was told its being given a full make over for a late 2022 opening. The other lounge was ok, but very small. Full flight, staff said its been like this since march. Great food and service and a good sleep was had. Early into Dubia, 2 hours in the 1st class lounge, all good again but what a boring lounge it is, could hear a pin drop. Same again to Manchester cant complaine, only 2 of us in 1st so the cabin crew were some what bored. No masks really either which is the way to go. We are past that rubbish now. Manchester to Dubia, I love this flight out at 2pm you get to have a drink or 10 in the bar and chat to fellow passengers, only me and a couple in 1st who were going back to work for Emirates ( he was a 777 pilot ) 2 hours of very fun chatting and drinking expensive whisky. Crew were amazing and so chatty, other than the head steward who was walking around like he owned the shop. None friendly. Back to that boring 1st lounge in Dubia, but this time I did go and dine at the sit down restaurant and very nice it was too and then on to Singapore 1st class again. Only me in 1st and i was straight to bed so boring night for the crew. Worst part of all the trip Manchester Airport. What a dump, and what a awful place to sit on a plastic seat with everyone else at the narrow gate, its a mess and needs sorting. The problem is the gates are too narrow for better access by class. Oh the Emirates lounge at Manchester is fine, i really dont mind it, but dated, but its been revamped soon.

Hi Juddy, thanks for sharing this report. Sounds like you enjoyed it!

Any particular meals, wine, or whisky on board that was a stand-out for you?

Not sure I would agree public health measures are rubbish. A bit like seatbelts as a public safety measure. But a good review except you may have been lucky with the sit down experience at the Dubai first class lounge, not a patch on Sydney.

The wearing of masks on planes in my opinion and many others is its a waste of time. Public health measures not worth the paper there written on. Not talking about COVID anymore we have moved on thank god. I dont fly from Sydney so probably never have the 1st opportunity there.

The Steak was amazing, had Salmon that was good. A 25/30 year old Whisky I think it was.

Down on ALL public health measures. Dear oh dear!!! I suspect we can’t avoid talking about COVID given it is close to being out of control and staff shortages (including at airports and in airlines) are in part due to mounting COVID related sick leave.
