In response to MKS11. It is a different phone number. It's on the back of the physical platinum frequent flyer card. I'm aware that Qantas isn't issuing cards any longer. I'm not sure if it is also on the material sent out by Qantas congratulating people on reaching Platinum status as it has been a while since I reached that status. Perhaps Charlesr can let us know when he (?) receives his Platinum pack from Qantas.
Ahh. it's been a long time since I looked at the physical card lol. But on checking it now, it does have a number on the back.
Say 3 'Hail Mary's' and 4 'Our Fathers' and hope you get Hobart. There is no science to it. The time you waste with the overseas call centers utter uselessness is the same amount of time it will take to keep calling and hanging up till you finally hear an Aussie accent answer.
As a platinum , if the Hobart call centre haven’t answered within 10 mins due to call load, you should be automatically redirected to an international centre (without further wait) in case the call needs urgent attention. Their recommendation to me was to just hang up and try again until you get Hobart due the inexperience and difficulty handling anything remotely complex from some of the international call centres.
I am currently QF gold, but
after an upcoming flight I’ll attain platinum & hopefully then be able to
contact the Hobart call centre? Can someone fill me in on how this actually happens?
I don’t imagine for one minute that you’re supplied with a designated ‘phone
number to ring, so is it that when you get the prompts on the QF f/f line to
enter your membership number, your status then triggers the call to be directed
to Hobart? I’ve got a European flight next May which I can only change with the
call centre but having read about so many ticket issuing problems I’d rather
wait & deal with someone in Australia than try to fix it this week.
Hi Charles R,
Congratulations on Platinum (next goal: P1, eh?)
You probably have the publicly published number: 13 11 31.
When you get your new Platinum card, you will have a new number on the back, in the top left-hand corner (written in tiny silver font):
13 xx x1 from Australia and a new international number*.
(Put them both in your phone. The International one was a life saver earlier this year)
You don't always get the Hobart call centre. In very busy periods, you may get a product-ignorant South African, but it's not that often, I'd estimate 4 of 5 calls since Jan22 went to Hobart.
The international number was a very good hit. I was put through to Hobart on the double occasion I had to call from overseas. They fixed everything...
*I won't post the numbers here as someone will probably ask for it to be removed so that the number remains "private"

You got the gender right! Making a note to post a comment when I receive something. Would expect perhaps at least new Q tags? Shame if they're not sending new cards, guess it's an age thing, but I find it more reassuring to hold a piece of plastic rather than flash a 'phone screen at someone.

Don’t worry, there’s also people who find it more reassuring to write out a cheque on physical paper than flashing a piece of plastic ;)

I got my Platinum pack a few weeks ago - new Q tag and a physical platinum card replete with number to contact!

Thanks SydneyTravels, now I know what I can expect. Can you tell me how long it took to get the new pack after actually attaining platinum? And thanks Concorde1990 for your feedback about the service received from overseas too, very reassuring. Thanks all...
Just a closing comment for those interested. I made my qualifying flight on 21 October, my Qantas pack with new Q tag & card arrived in the mail today. Pleased with timing.
I reckon I have called every number available to me since July of this year to fix up a Business reward ticketing issue that I have detailed on ET chat before. I have never been successful getting through to Hobart yet, I'm currently gold ex platinum. My understanding is that its your FF number that routes your call
Have lodged 2 Customer Care issues with Qantas online, e-mails to Qantas execs no response. I think at least 20 calls to outsourced call centres who have lost me one leg of my flight due to lack of skill and no ability to escalate to anyone, this must be seen as a failure by the outsourced centres , as I have asked for escalation on every call to them with no success.
Next port of call is to go to the customer service desk at the airport and not leave until I can get someone with the knowledge to put me through to someone who can help
My view is that One World reward seats with Qantas are extremely hard to come by, and then even harder to fix through the outsourced call centres if the ticketing agent makes a mistake
Last port of call is to buy a very expensive business ticket and then for that pleasure have to take a points hit and maybe $ to cancel a flight that is solely Qantas's stuff up
