When QF announces sale fares to the US for $7300, you know how it is looking with forward bookings. I would assume less leisure travel is being planned, and only a smaller amount of businesses would justify $12-$15k business class fares.
Premium cabins are full - on Qantas a lot of spare seats within 24-48hrs go to those with commercial upgrade requests. With Economy cabins I suppose a lot of people are tightening belt and burning through cash more for life necessities over luxuries.
Flew BNE LST return last weekend with VA. My first time flying w them in 10 years. 737-7 down (full) 737-8 back (half empty). Got business class upgrade for $100 each way with their bid system
this was a long time ago for me but I remember on Qantas ADL-SYD I had 98 passengers out of 116 on a 737(This was back in the days of the 733/734)and onwards to Bali on a 767 there was 161 out of 229 from memory.I am guessing it was the period before schools were about to come back.of course almost everything today with some exceptions is now a 737 so numbers can vary.
My recent flights from Gold Coast & Brisbane & return for Sydney & Adelaide were full, each way. Tried out QF, VA & JQ - all the same result. Watching early morning arrivals into OOL also saw full flights. Chaos onboard with people trying to cram bags into the overhead bins, especially on QF & VA. Interestingly, JQ was the smoothest boarding experience - every bag weighed & checked prior to boarding saw to that. Maybe QF & VA need to take note!

I’ve been noticing that loads on flights are dropping, empty seats are becoming more evident across QF and VA. What are you seeing?
Please wait...

Lots of empty middle seats, probably why QF are trying to con people into paying for them.
