I could not get business class redemption with velocity for Europe. We tried every single day of every single month over the next 12 months. Virgin have told me they are investigating, anyone else had this?

Sorry this was for Singapore airlines. No problem with redemption with Virgin or Etihad. All detsinations in australia were tried as well. I am Platinum with Velocity.

It sounds unfortunate. Do you mind me asking, why not simply take the Etihad or Virgin flights?

My info from Velocity is that they do theoretically have redemptions in first and biz on Singapore but the availability is very limited.
I just tried a AKL-HNL on Air NZ with them for interest and it caused great confusion! And no result.
So...it looks like Etihad is the best chance you will have of redeeming points. If you don't want to travel on Etihad it's looking very limited...
Disappointing perhaps...and ironic when they win awards for best redemption opportunities!

Platy, I am out of Adelaide and would prefer not to have to hop through Sydney or Melbourne (especially on the return leg). Considering Cathay, Emirates, Malaysian and Singapore all fly daily or in some cases twice daily out of Adelaide, being forced to fly Eitihad with an extra stop takes away the main reason I moved over to Virgin which was for Singpore airlines. It also stings as I paid for return J singapore airlines flights to India for me and partner only two weeks after they joined and was told by Velocity I could burn with them.

Darkavid99, yep, I feel the same way having unsuccessfully tried to get the AirNZ flights I wanted (business AKL-HNL).
I have also found that VA are quite responsive to customer feedback, although that may not result in an actual flight they do make more attempt to listen than QF in my experience.
Frustrating indeed.
I am based in Cairns and that also involves the issues of an extra flight unless on Cathay Pacific and since QF pulled their former daily 5.45am CNS-SYD, redemption flights out of CNS are now that much more of a drama. Ironically in the case of QF, the booking system for classic awards is awash with redemption seats on Emirates! Not sure if that will last.
Good luck!
