Hi all, if I fly Qantas domestic MEL - SYD with an overnight layover for a morning International flight (with Qantas) on the same booking reference do I need to collect my checked in luggage and re-check-in? Looking at flying to either NZ (Emirates on QF flight #) or BKK (with Qantas). Thanks
If you do in the end make the booking, Rydges will be the best hotel at T1, ($$$) or you could take Aerotel too, which will be cheaper than the Rydges.
A few years ago, I overnighted at the Ibis Budget, thought there were taxis at the taxi rank at T2/T3 to get to T1 for SYD, how totally wrong I was.
No taxis in sight at T2/T3 at 4.30am!
Had to call 132200 edit (132211) Adelaide, thinking it was a national taxi phone number, lucky the guy I spoke to asked where I was, I said SYD, turns out 132200 is only Adelaide, and an uber mini van came in the end, the driver had my mobile phone number, so I did get to T1 in the end, but if I were doing it again, I would book an uber/taxi from the Ibis Budget Sydney Airport the night before, for the next morning.
If you do the Ibis Budget at the T2/T3 SYD airport precinct, make sure to order a taxi or uber for the next morning the night before.
Do not walk to T2/T3 expecting taxis there if an early int departure.

Your bags will only be checked in as far as SYD. QF will not through check to the next day even flying with them. Hope this helps
