I’m not sure about EK’s latest narrative on the ‘reason/s’ for the high carrier charges on QFF reward redemptions, but if fuel surcharges is one of them, how can this vary between the same two destinations where the only difference is the direction of travel? I’ve just booked EK F from SIN-MEL which is only around 90 AUD in carrier charges, but MEL-SIN is was around 1700 AUD! How can this be?
Pretty sure it's dependant on the country origin of departure. Australia gets slogged. I too flew F in EK on a 5th freedom flight return and total charges were $70Aud. If I leave Perth in EK in F one way it's like $1500.

It is probably an oversight. Take advantage while you still can.

It’s why you typically see good availability ex AU in First and Business but not great into AU.
I picked up some flights into LHR in a few weeks in a combination of Business and First into LHR on Emirates for that reason.
