So 6 weeks ago Philippines let my wife know her flight for the next day was cancelled but she was rebooked for 6 days hence. The typhoon conditions in Manila made that decision for them, but the need to cancel the TK flight from MNL to VCE was a shame. Turkish airlines refunded within hours less the advised cancellation fee. Philippine Airlines on the other hand have no call centre and an online system that frankly sucks. We rejected the offer of a 5 day delay and asked for a refund. The system continued to send us boarding advice ( we were in Slovenia by the boarding time) and also says we have been refunded (we clearly have not). I don’t think I will try with them again. Had to rebook on the last J on Emirates…I am scared to write down how much that cost. Travel insurance is a good idea, but there is some stuff that is just dumb bad luck.
