Can I still check in for a QF international flight at Sydney at any time? Eg. Outside the normal 3hrs before. Want to extend my time in the first lounge, traveling PE, but PFF
At Sydney it's no longer a strict 3hrs check-in before departure, but I doubt that Qantas has returned to all-day check-in. I've more recently been able to check-in 4-5 hrs before departure. The exception might be checking in for QF11, as the Americans must position a security person at check-in to ask a few basic questions.
And of course if you're travelling HLO (hand luggage only) then you can check-in online and go straight to passport control as early as you like.

I was on QF35 ex-Mel and tried to check in luggage around 8am for 12noon departure and had to wait until 9am - was told this was border control issue.
