I am a gay man and have been flying QR for a few times these past few years now. QR has plenty of gay crew and ground staff and I have celebrated honeymoon on the flight too. As long as you dont publicly display your sexuality, no one cares about your sexuality.

If Trump not lying to us then hopefully all this madness hysteria about 163 gender will be over sooner rather then later.

The VA tie up with QR from a transgender perspective is not ideal, but not a deal breaker. And Qantas does have a close relationship with Emirates. I will be flying with Virgin domestically, so I will be protected by Australian values and laws. I did fly Rex a few times this year, they were a fabulous airline, and I am still saddened that they no longer fly B737 services.

Internationally, however, I simply refuse to fly on any Middle Eastern airline (Saudia, Emirates, Qatar, Etihad, Gulf Air, Egypt Air), nor will I fly on Royal Brunei. I will not be using Qantas to Europe, I fear my flight being cancelled and being rebooked onto an Emirates flight. And VA will be funneling passengers onto QR which I will be avoiding.

Hmmmm, then you might want to take a look (i.e. do your own research) at Turkish Airlines, you might be pleasantly surprised. I realise that to many Turkish could easily be lumped into the 'MEA' category, but I'm not sure that's an intelligent decision. And then there's always Singapore Airlines.

James11, have just checked with my daughter's Godfather (who proudly insists to being her 'Fairy Godfather'). He says that as long as you don't dress or behave like Priscilla Queen of the Desert you have nothing to be concerned about. He flies regularly on Emirates but is a big fan of Turkish Airlines (and Istanbul).

I didn't realise you had to state you sexual status / preference / orientation when flying?

Me being gay isn’t why I won’t fly Qatar - I won’t fly them because of what they did to those woman several years ago. Awful.

I'm glad you said it. I encountered some very gay QR ground staff at Doha airport. As long as your sexuality isn't blatant in public you'll be fine.
