I am looking at going to Munich later this year. I would be flying from Brisbane, what are some good options? I'am looking at boosting my VA FF account, possible millage run.
Etihad also flies between Brisbane and Abu Dhabi (via Singapore) and onwards to Munich.
If you hold Velocity Silver status or higher, your earn rate of points should be higher than with Singapore Airlines.
However, due to the different breakdown in status credit earning bands, flying Singapore Airlines (provided it's in eligible fare) will earn more status credits than on Etihad. For example:
Singapore Arlines - Brisbane to Singapore - 30 status credits in Economy
Singapore Airlines - Singapore to Munich - 40 status credits in Economy
Versus:
Etihad - Brisbane to Abu Dhabi (via Singapore) - 40 status credits in Economy
Etihad - Abu Dhabi to Munich - 20 status credits in Economy

The only 1-stop option for VA FF would be through Singapore. Get a VA Codeshare flight on Singapore Airlines to get the best value status credits.
