It is a tired looking and often crowded lounge (TG, UA, VS, AC) all use the lounge next to NZ. Breakfast in morning are te usual cold options and often they have some egg dish and hash brown. Believe they have a pancake machine as ell. In the afternoon they have some soup and a simple snack (ofte also a hotdog stand). Alcohol is nothing to write home about (wines are New Zealand, decent but around the 15aud a bottle mark). Wifi is ok, never had speed issues (not lightning fast). Showers standard, all in all pretty lack lustre and nothing like the NZ lounge in AKL.

Its ok. Quite large and gets busy as quite a few airlines utilise it, especially around lunch Food and drink is ok. I like the large windows overlooking the tarmac.

Air New Zealand has some VERY good business class lounges: AKL LAX MEL WLG CHC, but their SYD is not up to standard. Its just above what you would expect a good US lounge would be like. It has NOT been refurbished in the 'Kiwi Bathc' theme like all the other lounges in its network has been. Don't ask me why considering SYD is one of its key destinations. Yes it beats the teminal and it is better than the SQ Sliver Kris @ SYD

Koru, the one in Melbourne is horrible. I had to use it when flying VA Business and its one of the worst business class lounges I have used. Hurry up Eithad and VA joint lounge!

Wow, many divergent and strongly held opinions here. In my opinion, MEL > SYD > AKL, but there's not that much in it, they're all reasonably similar.
None of them is "horrible". None of them is anything like a "good US lounge", because they have real food and decent drinks you can serve yourself. I like the NZ wine, and there's often some interesting beers. The scones for morning tea are a nice touch, and some people like the hot dog machine, though personally I think eating a hot dog before a flight would just make me ill. Decent variety of seating options, and the best seats are the big recliners in the corner with a view of the tarmac.
NZ lounges are better than most, without being knock-your-socks-off best-in-the-world great. However if you're like Darkavid99 and can get ushered into a room with a bunch of comfy chairs, free food, and free drinks, and declare it to be "horrible" then... I dunno, maybe you need some more perspective.

Hey Hugo, nice touch haha, agree that compared to say having to wait in a crowded waiting room, its not horrible.
Compared to the experience in other lounges SilverKris, Emirates business, Qantas etc it does fall pretty flat.
I would hate to be flying Emirates first class and have to use it compared to Qantas First class, so yes that is my perspective.
