Hey I am a velocity gold member. I am flying from BNE - LAX - JFK with VA/DL. Then JFK - LHR - LAX with VS. Then LAX - BNE with VA. I will be doing all in Premium Economy. I have a couple of questions. My inbound flight from LHR arrives at 19.15 and my outbound flight to BNE leaves at around 10pm. This will be on a sunday. Will this be enough connection time? I will be travelling with my 16 year old brother, mother, and father. None of them have any status with VA. I know it says you are only allowed one guest, but has anyone found a way around this so I can take my family into the lounge with me?
Hey certainly. I chose this as it was significantly cheaper then going via DXB or SIN. I don't fly qantas as I am based at the gold coast and Virgin has us covered better. Also, in terms of flight time it is 11 hours from LHR - LAX and then 14 hours to BNE from there so the additonal time isn't too long :). If I went with Singapore it would be about 24 hours total, this way I am doing it in 28. I am just concerned about the lounging though! Hahaha. Maybe because I am 18 years old they will apply some discretion? Do they scan boarding passes?
Though 2.75hrs is enough time, you would still move with a bit of pace through all the checkpoints so you don't get caught up behind with a sudden arrival of a load of passengers.
You can use your Gold to get your family thru any 'Priority Access / express path' lines too - travelling as a group.
Lounge access - I agree this might be a bit tough (guesting three in), you might want to do it in two trys, with the 2nd one saying your mum has now decided she wanted to join you rather than shop outside... (etc)

2.75 hours is ample connection time in LAX - very easy to transfer and you shouldnt have issue with outbound customs.
Getting all into the lounge may present an issue, but its always worth a try!
Just out of interest, could you explain why you would choose to come home from LHR via LAX rather than Dubai/Singapore?
