Nope. There are no domestic carriers in NZ these days.
I bet someone on here, or AFF, will suggest AKL-SYD-ZQN in J thought :P
Air NZ economy is perfectly fine for flight of just a couple of hours. If you have Star Alliance status and get in early enough you should get Row 1 which is excellent.
If you can't find the level of service you're looking for you can always hire a private jet...
ok jokes aside...u know you could probably find crazy deals (for, as htc said, J AKL-SYD-ZQN) for certain times of the year that are not too much more than a full-fare direct domestic economy within NZ actually :). But by the same token you'll also find cheap deals for the economy ticket, also.
But it's a thought. Maybe you could chuck $50 to the hackers at flightfox to see how cheaply they can find 'technically-speaking business class from AKL to ZQN' haha. They have open minds and crazy methods...
My suggestion is to join the Air Nz Koru Club. That gives you access to "Space" seating on A320 and B737 aircraft. It isn't J by any means - 3x3 seating, no meals on domestic flights. But these preferred seats have a pitch about the same as QF provides in J on 73H trans-Tasman services. You'll also get lounge access and other membership goodies.
BTW: Jetstar in NZ is an ongoing joke. Don't bother.

Does anyone know if any airlines fly business between Auckland and Queenstown?

Your two options are Air New Zealand and Jetstar; I believe neither offers a proper short-haul business class.

What do you mean there are no domestic carriers in NZ? I assume you mean no domestic carriers with business class in NZ.

Jetstar have actually been in the paper recently for having better on time performance than Air NZ.

Based on the website Kayak, there are no Business Class fares on any airline between Auckland & Queenstown.
Given that it's only a 90 min flight, is it that important? If it's a matter of luggage limits, then why not just pay the excess?
