I need a star alliance seat from Sydney to Auckland on June 30, 2014. None are available. Should I hang in there for a while longer or just buy a seat?  Coming from Canada and not enough connection time for the 9:40 a.m. flight

Expertflyer is only showing availability for redemption for the 0940h flight (NZ102) and only in Business class (I inventory).

Availability for revenue bookings for the 1130h flight (NZ704) is not looking very good either: Y7 B7 M7 H7 Q7 V7 W7 T7 L7 S0 G0 X0 K0 P0

If you want to make NZ704, I suggest you make a revenue booking and get tickets while cheaper booking classes are still available.

NZ have plenty of seats SYD-AKL on 30/6/14. 

Hmmm -- Air Canada says there are no seats available. There msy be seats on the plane available but no SA seats.

Yes. I couldn't tell from your original post whether you were trying to buy seats on a Star Alliance carrier vs buying seats on any carrier. Redemptions are a different story. 

I would prerfer to add on a leg to an existing tickrt but I will buy one if necessary.  What  do younthink my chances are of being able to find a seatbnto add on a leg?
