I am travelling Qantas Business from Vancouver-Dallas-Brisbane-Cairns and then Cairns-Brisbane-LA-Vancouver. I was wondering how many Status Points you get with the AA- Van Dallas and Alaska Air - LA to Van. I am a Qantas Silver if it makes any difference. The Calculator on Qantas doesnt do it.

Depends on what class you are travelling. When assessesing on the status credits table  look at the miles for YVR to DFW and then look in the column for which class you are travelling.

There is a very useful tool for calculating mileage and status credits - theoretically designed to check valid round the world fares but can be used to determine status credits and miles for other routes. Google "mileage monkey" and enter your route in the arond the world validator box using the 3-letter codes (ie. DFW, BNE, CNS, etc) and tick the box for allow errors and check the tale below. Pick the status credits for each sector by relevant cabin class to arrive at the total.

PS your status (silver) doesn't alter the status credits earned on QF

Your question asks about "Status Points".  Is it Frequent Flyer POINTS or STATUS CREDITS that you're interested in?

Cheers for the answers, that Mileage monkey is great. I was just after the status credits. I was reading that if you book business class through qantas,  and you fly on AA and Alaska you get First Status Credits as they do not have a business class. do you know if there is any truth to this?

Yes, this is correct for AA. I don't know about Alaska. This is one of the best ways to maximize earning status credits on a oneworld RTW fare with a number of AA sectors in North America: choose flights with no business class.

Suggest you confirm with QF that they have indeed put you in first class cabin...if so, yes, you'll get first credits.
