Wondering if anyone has any thoughts or further information on QF changing QF23/QF24 Sydney - Bangkok - Sydney back to a 747 and also swapping QF5/QF6 Sydney - Singapore - Sydney to a A330 from Dec (according to theQFsource and confirmed by the timetable). This seems to be have been done on the down low.

Also, I noted (on the qfsource again) that QF reconfigured an additional 747. I don't believe this was a refurbished 747 but it was reported that this 747 was reconfigured to 14F/52J/32W/255Y from a previous 14F/66J/40W/187Y. As they kept First (at least the old First), on what route would QF be primarily using this plane?

As posted on another forum, airlineroute.net reports it is a temporary swap from 1-Dec-13 to 31-Jan-14, presumably to capture the higher number of holidaying pax wanting to travel to Thailand over the period, versus lower business numbers to Singapores.

Which is the remaining 747 that was reconfigured?? - of the older aircraft it is now only VH-OJA, VH-OJC, VH-OJI, VH-OJL and VH-OJM left (OJE recently withdrawn)

I see at was VH-OEB (one of the newer 747ERs that can the reconfig)..

I assume this was just to get the fleet commonality.

Newer 747s

14F/52J/32W/255Y - OJS, OJU, OEB

58J/36W/270Y - OJT, OEE, OEF, OEG, OEH, OEI, OEJ

Older 747s - still nearing Victorville

56J/40W/275Y - OJA, OJC, OJI

14F/52J/32W/ 255Y - OJL, OJM

Thanks. I was under the impression that when QF refurbed the 9 B747's with A380 product that left F off all of them.

So there are in fact 10 refurb 747's? Or am I wrong?

Incorrect.

OJS and, OJU are in the same 58J three class configuration (with the new seats) as OJT and OEE-OEJ. There are 9 refurbished 747s.

OEB should be included in the same category as OJL/OJM. She is 20 years old (while OJS/T/U are all 14 years old) and will be retired along the with the rest of the non-refurbished fleet over the next couple of years.

Will Qantas get 3 more JQ A330 this year?

Hopefully, but I think they'll need a reconfiguration as I don't think AJ would like them going out with the Millennium seats still in them.

here's hoping AJ announces firm commencement date for 330 refurbs this Thursday. It would make some sense to start with returning JQ fleet
