Position yourslef in JNB or KRT then start the RTW from there.

JNB option has become more expensive, used to be a bargain. Apparently KRT is ok, but then again, getting there is costly and visa hassle and transitting might spoil the fun. I recently read a report of somebody who flew in to DAM to originate his trip, but that is hardly an option anymore....

Be careful with that tronixstuff, wouldn't be surprised if a less well travelled soul would jump on it and follow your tip and before you know it they are stuck in KRT! :-)

Position yourself in Broken Hill, and then go from there. #nonotreally

So where is the cheapest place to start a RTW trip?

For OW it is ex-KRT.

Ok where is the cheapest if you don't want to get murdered?

I think that would be JNB, even though the prices were hiked recently. If you get it issued on AA stock you will not get hit with hefty fuel charges and it comes out reasonably priced.

Of course AA all the way! What is the mode of sale? Do they discriminate on the basis of your credit card's registration?

You can plan the whole thing online (even under different flight numbers) and then call AA reservations to issue th whole thing in their flightnumbers, should do the trick and no CC discrimination! Alternatively I think you could outsource to a good travel agent ;)
