Brisbane - Moscow (QANTAS vs VIRGIN)
Hi, I'm planning to flying to Moscow next year and I have about the same amount of points on the Velocity Frequent Flyer and the QANTAS Frequent Flyer so which one should I choose to fly there.

After checking a dummy booking with both Qantas and Virgin award bookings, these are your options.
With QF Brisbane - Moscow is 64,000 points o/w with EK via Dubai. Flight time is 24 hours.
With VA I couldn't find any reward seats with my dummy booking only any seat which would be 139000 points with EY with a 26 hour flight time.
Neither airline flys to Moscow, so it would be up to you depending what reward seat availablity you can find and which partner airline you would prefer to fly with.

Alex, why would you waste your points on a redemption to Europe when the cost of revenue tickets have been at historic lows?

Agreed. Unless he's looking to fly J or F, he might as well jump on the next SQ sale or something.

Take a look at CX via HKG. You can get a good connection and it's about 22 hours there and 20 hours back. They only fly 3 times a week from HKG to DME though so it depends on whether it falls on the days you want to go and if you want a redemption seat whether you can get one for the dates you need.

Alternatively, get a reward seat to BKK or SIN and buy a ticket to SVO / DME from there, it will save you money and earn you some points on the second sector. Often ex Asia you can get some pretty good deals in C.

Try Singapore Airlines via SIN.It's a good connection for the most part depending on where you are connecting from if a Velocity Member See how many points they require first though for the class travelled for redemption
