I can't help but notice that the current JQ 35 operating between Melbourne and Bali actually begins its flight in Sydney. Does this mean that when the 787 is used on this route, will Jetstar operate the 787 between Sydney and Melbourne before continuing onto Bali? Or will Jetstar discontinue the "domestic" component of JQ 35 from December the 19th?
It was a facetious comment as annotated by a ":p" alluding to the elephant in the room that there are more elements at play to a good flight than just the aircraft used.
The reason for all of JQ's domestic tags on their A330 flights is that their A330 fleet is SYD based. So all flights will need to start or end there, hence we have SYD-OOL/CNS/MEL on A330s.
JQ's 787s are starting off with a MEL base, so no need to start the flight in SYD.
At the moment, Jetstar's Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners will flying on the following routes starting 13th November:
Melbourne-Tullamarine to Gold Coast Melbourne-Tullamarine to Cairns Melbourne-Tullamarine to Bali-Denpasar (Starting 18th December)
They will eventually announce more Dreamliner routes so keep an eye out on ausbt.com.au and Jetstar's 787 page. All JQ A330 routes will be taken over by 2015. Jetstar's A330 aircraft will be transferred to Qantas.

I have no idea, but I've heard some say that Jetstar doesn't want to connect to SYD.

I wonder why...
...anyway, I've looked at making a booking, and I can't find SYD-MEL JQ35 during December.

I wonder if the quality of the passengers would also change in the MEL/DPS sector when the flight is upgraded from an A330 to a 787? :p

Why would a type change, change the passengers? Most wouldn't know or care

Hey moa999,
It was a facetious comment as annotated by a ":p" alluding to the elephant in the room that there are more elements at play to a good flight than just the aircraft used.

Interesting - I was under the impression that the A330 mx base was in BNE.

My mistake, I should have said the A330 crew base is SYD. The mx is indeed done in BNE.
