Aside from the Qantas Business Lounge in Sydney T1, which other lounges would I have access to? I assume the Malaysia Airlines lounge through OneWorld... What about Emirates if I'm on a QF ticket not going to or through Dubai?
QF Gold does not give you assess to the Qantas Business Lounges. I believe you only get access to the Qantas Club lounges. Qantas Business Lounge is limited to QF Plat/OW Emeralds and pax flying in Business.
QF Gold gives you access to the MH Business Class lounges.
Not terribly sure about EK lounges...too many caveats and fine prints to be bothered with....upshot: The QF/EK arrangement is not as fantastic as it sounds.
QF Gold gives you complimentary membership of the Qantas Club, with access to their Lounges. In the Domestic Terminal at Sydney, you are entitled to enter the Qantas Club Lounge when flying Qantas or Jetstar that day, but you can only enter the inner sanctum of the Business Lounge if you are flying Business Class that day. At T1 there is no such distinction, and you can enter the Business Lounge if flying Qantas in any class that day (or Jetstar from T1).
I disagree with QF business class lounge being better than the EK lounge, the latter is definitely better in terms of food and drinks offering. As a rule of thumb, if you have business class access choose for the EK lounge, if you have first class lounge access go for QF (in Sydney).

Apologies for misreading. Yes you do get access to the Qantas Business Lounge at Sydney International terminal (T1) as a QFF Gold.
It's the Business Lounge at the Domestic terminal that you do not get access to.

To access the MH Lounge you would need to fly on a OW carrier that is marketed and operated by them.

What are you guys going on about and confusing MatthewHerbert?
QF Gold definitely does give you assess to the Qantas International Business Lounge at T1, see http://www.qantas.com.au/travel/airlines/lounge-locations/sydney/international-t1/international-business-lounge/global/en
I haven't been to the Emirates lounge at Sydney T1, there's a review here AusBT (http://www.ausbt.com.au/emirates-lounge-sydney-the-best-business-lounge-in-australia) but based on that I still think the QF business lounge beats it, especially since they upgraded the buffet last year.

Hmm ok, from the review on here the QF Business Lounge in T1 didn't sound particularly great - whereas Emirates had good marks for food and drinks.
The QF biz lounge is improved though you think? And definitely better than Malaysian?

QF Biz lounge has definitely improved, and the view is OK.
Is also normally much closer to the gates that QF uses, whereas the Emirates lounge is a hike to the other side of the terminal.
