I think the upstairs window seat is the best as there is the extra space to store work gear etc due to the helpful stowage area. It also being a smaller cabin is quite cosy.

I've never flown downstairs so can't comment on that.

As Singapore Airlines has two variations of their A380's I will give advice for both.

For V1, the best seats are upstairs in either 71A-K (bulkheads), with A and K being the best for both legroom and the afforementioned window storage. Also 80A-K being another bulkhead.

For V2 with the economy only downstairs I would say 54A-k, particularly 54A or K, as neither of these seats are basonet positions like the first bulkhead behind Suites class.

Hope this helps.

Another tip: I know this is slightly unrelated to your question, but being in Singapore Airlines Y class means you're in for a treat.

+1 for the upstairs window seats.

But if that's not available, I found 48D downstairs quite a treat - just a normal seat, but with no seat in front of you owing to the emergency crew exit hatch. Plus, there's no immediate disturbance from any toilets, galleys or bassinets - and nobody 'stealing' your exit row legroom to do their mid-flight stretches!

Definitely the upstairs section if it is available. It's a smaller cabin and the layout is 2 4 2 so it's great if there are 2 of you travelling. There's no one I'd rather fly with in economy. Enjoy the trip!
