Hey All,
a friend of mine is travelling SYD-LAX-SFO-NY(Somewhere) in feb and asked me today if her Gold VA status gets her free luggage on the cheap fares for Virgin America. Has anyone travelled internally in the US on VA status and can fill me in?
Thanks

I've done some research online, and I've found that their SIlver members get a free checked bag (Gold get three!), and it seems to be valid regardless of fare class.
I cannot confirm if the partnership grants the same free checked bag, as the VA site only says that VA Golds get priority baggage on VX; but this suggests that you should get free baggage.

I have flown Virgin America using my Virgin Australia silver membership and got nothing from having Silver status.
No free bag/bags, no priority checkin, no priority seating. Basically all you will receive is the points and status credits.

This appears to be the current version of the partner status benefits:

As velocity gold there's no extra checked baggage on Virgin America, though you do get priority boarding, baggage, check-in and (importantly, in the US) security.
