I am flying LHR to SYD in a few weeks via DXB. Two separate flight numbers (both QF). However, the first flight, LHR to DXB is EK operated. Therefore, I am just wondering, when I arrive at LHR do I check-in at the QF or EK desk? And if it the EK desk, will my QF Platinum status allow me to use the Business &/or First check-in desk? Many thanks

Hi Trevor

I beleive you can check in at eitherof the check-in counters. See below extract from Q's website:

Will my Qantas Frequent Flyer status entitle me to use premium check-in counters when checking in at an Emirates counter?

For travel on/after 31 March 2013,Chairmans Lounge, Platinum One and Platinum Qantas Frequent Flyers Members will be able to check in for Emirates (EK) operated flights at First or Business check-in counters (where available). Gold Qantas Frequent Flyers will be able to check in at the Business check-in counters (where available).

Members must be booked and ticketed on the Qantas (QF) or Emirates (EK) flight number.

Hope this helps.

Always check in at operating carriers desks (ie EK).

Per the FAQ on the QF website:

I haven't been in this situation yet, but I'm sure both check-in desks will accept you.

In the Emirates check-in though, I'm not sure if your bags go to SYD, or just DXB.

Tip: next time take EK 4/412 (both A380, 3 hour stopover) or CX back...

Check in with operating ariline - so EK.

Bags get checked through to SYD, just like any codeshare arrangement.

Tip: fly whoever you enjoy flying.

OK, I'm just giving tips on who I enjoy flying, I know some like taking QF all the way, some EK all the way, some another route - John Walton posted this on http://www.ausbt.com.au/the-other-kangaroo-routes-eight-one-hop-ways-to-get-to-london
