Anyone know what kind of business seats Finnair has on BKK-HEL route? I search net and only can find contradictory info, so first hand experience will be appreciated. Flying (if matters) in April-May

I'm flying in a week and the seat map is indicating an A330 with the newer fully flat seats.
In looking at the schedules they operate a mix of aircraft to BKK so you could get either seat. Make sure you select a flight with the aircraft listed as A330, rather than A330-300. The former has the newer fully flat seats and the latter has the older slope seats. You can also check the seat map, which will show a staggered arrangement for the new seats, versus a standard 2-2-2 arrangement for the older seats.
Finnair should begin the retrofit of most of their aircraft to the newer seats during the course of next year so your opportunities to fly them should being to increase.

Thanks for replay. I have A330 and when I choose my seat plan was funny - everything funny with Finns, sorry for punt - one seat on right (that is what been chosen), two in middle and some funny “stairs” arrangement on left. So finger cross and I will experience new seats. Flight BKK-HEL does not bother me much (day flight), but looking forward for descent sleep on my flight back to fight jet lag.
Cheers

On all of Finnair's Airbus A330-300s that operate between Helsinki and Bangkok-Suvarnabhumi (Flights AY090 and AY089) feature the Brand New Business Class seats. On all of Finnair's Airbus A340-300s that operate between Helsinki and Bangkok-Survarnabhumi (Flights AY096 and AY095) feature the older Business Class seats.

Thanks, Mitchel. According to flightmapper AY090 starts to operate on 22 Jan 14 while AY096 stop to operate on 29 Mar 14. Also there are once off A340 for AY090 and A330 for AY096. Anyway looks like I am in luck - from April onwards only AY090.
Thanks

Hmmm... Look once more time and it appears that AY090 also operates daily until 21 Jan, so they have 2 flight right now - one departure from BKK 9:05 and another 10:55 - cannot say that it is super-smart, they would be better of run one in the morning and other later for overnight flight that arrives to HEL early in the morning. No wonder that they ridding off one flight.

Ok have a booking for AY089/090 outbound HEL-BKK end April 14, ret mid May in biz. Original seat maps showed A330 with new configuration both O/B and Ret; now AY090 is showing A340 with old 2x2x2 layout in a 5 row cabin - My (window) seat number 2L has remained the same. Hmm.
A) Hate substitutions to a potentially inferior product, feels like a bait-and-switch;
B) It's a 5 row cabin, but I understand that the A340 has 7 rows (5+2) in business - So is this a new configuration? Or (just as likely) the 2nd small biz cabin is going to be used as economy or closed off?
C) What are the chances I get a new configuration plane back for the AY090 flight by May?

Fark, mate, you destroyed my day! I checked my booking and indeed they change A330 to A340 HEL-BKK on 12 may! And while in BKK-HEL flight I still have A330 with plan that looks like new biz, I having 2-2-2 on my flight back! If it older seats I would be pisses indeed – I rather have flat bed HEL-BKK because it is overnight flight. Cannot agree with you more – such replacement is sux.
Lets cross fingers and hope for best.

So by looks, Finnair is continuing the A330 service til end of April or so, and swapping it out for the A340 on the route from May onwards. Boo. Or maybe they'll revamp the A340 by then? I'm pissed coz I had the choice of three airlines to choose from, all flat beds, chose Finnair coz it was the cheapest of the three with fb, now half the journey is with an 8-10 year old product...

An update. I have a look and found that next day (13 may) they operate A330 with new seats on HEL-BKK route. So I rebook and fingers cross they will not change it anymore. Looks like they replaced some A330 to A340 on HEL-BKK route for whatever reason.
But I really feel that they should disclose what kind of seat they use on particular days (IMHO it must be clearly visible on website) because it is two significantly different products and I believe that I am entitled to know what I am buying. They can charge different price and I am OK with that - as least I can choose. But SILENTLY replacing excellent product with inferior one truly sux.
A warning – do not change date of flight on website – I did and miraculously my tickets became economy. I call them and write them and they fixed it, but WTF??? And I did not receive neither email or phone call with notification that it been fixed – forget about apology!
Bets luck for you and please post outcome.
Cheers
