Isn't it time that airlines start mandating a dress code for lounges and probably in the premium cabins of planes? I am so fed up of going into a lounge and seeing people dressed as if they have just come off the beach - thongs, singlets, bare feet propped up on tables etc. Not for a minute suggesting collars and ties but presentable dress.QF Singapore Lounge was a disgrace.

Yes totally agree. Some people look like they have just dragged themselves out of bed. You need sunglasses at the Perth QF Lounge as there is that much fluro around.

You need to work on society not just a dress code. 

Yes for sure, agree, but the lounges are not so-called public areas as in the general sense, they are owned and/or operated by a private company and that company should be setting the guidelines. 

Well let the company know your thoughts on the matter. 

I let the Platinum 1 Office know and they fobbed it off to [email protected] I think the gentleman who oversees the lounges for QF is Gordon Watson.

Welcome to the world of today. I see people walking through the terminal in their pyjamas! Definitely think there should be a dress code for lounges and premium cabins. Was in the Etihad First Class Lounge in Abu Dhabi recently and was impressed with the calibre of passengers. Everyone was so polite, no pushing or shoving, no feet up on tables or people dressed like they've just gotten out of bed. Definitely not in the same league as the Australian lounges! 

I do like reasonable atire in a lounge ,as you say it's not a free public area ! But and this is a big but "Cloths does not make the man"  manners above all else !

Not an question. However if I can walk into the lounge with jeans and a smartshirt and dress (or even casual) shoes, no excuse that the next person cannot. I stress I am not for a minute saying a suit, collar and tie is the criteria, but enough with the lowest common denominator look.

I thought Australians generally pride themselves for not being stuffy? What's the big deal?

I am not talking about being stuffy, i am saying i don't want to be seeing bare feet and thongs in the lounge etc etc. Nothing to do with stuffy, just do away with scruffy.

I wear denim shorts, a nice t-shirt and $150 sandals. (Birkenstocks)

Totally agree on being comfortable, especially on a long haul flight, I'm only in F or J as well, but nothing to stop you changing on the plane, but lets not have the bare feet ... please.

Crosscourt, yes I agree there should be some standatds (within reason) - isn't it rather the case that there are standards and they are just not enforced? 

I do recall being in BNE biz lounge one time and this fella was wearing a hardly-there singlet - it was only later I reaslised it was Guy Sebastian: I guess nobody is gonna tell the "famous" folk to put a shirt on.
