Planning to fly BNE - LAX - YVR. On Qantas Airways. My dad is a QF Gold, travelling with my 16 year old brother. We were due to arrive at 6.40am with a connection to an Alaska Airlines flight at 9.45am however Qantas has changed our flights and as such we are now on the 2.55pm departure, which is an 8hr+ layover.
What lounge access will we have? As you will imagine we are not terribly thrilled at the prospect of an 8hr layover in LAX however they said no to every other alternative that I suggested such as going via HNL, or delaying our LAX - YVR overnight.
As Alaska are not a one-world member or affiliate, then i would say none however you can buy access to the Alaska Airlines Boardroom for $45pp. Being a QF Gold member only provides lounge access when travelling on a one-world airline.
01647 is correct. That said at least show the QF GOLD Card at the boardroom entrance along with your boarding pass.I and associates have had several recent experiences where we acessed the lounge with out paying the day pass fee.I may add it did not seem to matter that the Alaska flight was a QF code share or not. Also we had no problem doing the same in Seattle on our return to connect in LAX for a QF out bound flight.
You might consider a hotel room instead of a lounge. Places lke Sheraton Gateway and the Hilton LAX are very close, quite cheap (the lounge could cost $135 for 3 of you) and they have a regular shuttle from/to the terminals. You could book a room for the night before your 6.40am arrival and probably get a 1.00pm checkout then go to Terminal 6 for the AS flight.
You might also consider cancelling the AS flight. You don't say when you'll be travelling, but e.g. in mid-Feb for LAX-YVR Expedia are showing a total of AUD$420 inc fees and taxes total for all 3 pax on Air Canada in Coach - a 9.55am flight. Even if you get nothing back from Qantas (you probably won't) you'd at least be on your way much earlier for not much outlay.
I'd rent a car and head out of the airport, go have brunch somewhere and get acclimatised to the time zone. Unless you have to be in Vancouver at a particular time.
Yeah guys I have a wedding on at 4pm on the day of arrival, was due to arrive at about noon but now scheduled to arrive at about 6, which is no good. Qantas said it would be about $250 per person to remove LAX - YVR from my itenerary, and if we don't turn up for it they will cancel our return flight home. So now I am trying to push them to put me on the 8.40am departure from LAX going to seattle with a connecting flight to Vancouver, which arrives at 12.30pm. Does anyone know if 2 hours at that time of the morning, on a tuesday in the middle of june will be cutting it too fine?
This is why Qantas is in the toilet. Zero willingness or ability to relate. One size fits all.
2 hours should be OK, but you'd be assuming the BNE-LAX flight gets to the gate on time.
The connecting flight at SEA adds another dimension of uncertainty. Maybe have a car booked there in case you need to drive to YVR - approx 3 hours, depending on wait at border crossing.
It's my sisters wedding so it is pretty important that we were there and as I had uni exams the day before, and my brother has school we decided to cancel our alaska flight to vancouver and now we are flying direct with air canada in the morning to vancouver. Just hope we make it. Does anyone know if qantas will issue boarding passes in Brisbane for us for air canada?

Should be ok. Have done it in much less, but transfering in LAX from International to Domestic is typically 1.5hrs
