I know VA wanted to refit them but it was cost prohibitive. The most expensive part was not installing new product but rather the rewiring that was required for emergency systems like oxy masks etc. Fitting new product to match the new A330's would mean renumbering seats, and that meant all electronics had to be reworked. The price tag to complete that work alone, was over $1 million.
XFA is currently in Manilla for scheduled maintenance. When it's back XFB will go there. Let's hope that they come back better. Meanwhile your odds of getting a new A330 went from 5/7 to 5/6.

Original Virgin A330s
Does anyone know if the original A330s (with the 2-3-2 reclined layout in Business) are still used by VA?
On all 6 A330 flights I took last year I didn't have any, but in all probability I should have, if they are still flying.
I'm thinking that they have probably been refitted by now to the "flat" 2-2-2 layout.
