Fark, I am really p!ssed - I booked BKK-HEL-BKK departure on April and was pretty happy to see that both flights are 330 with new biz. Month later they change flight back to 340. I rebook it one day latter to 330 back and now they change both forth (do not care much - it is a day flight) and back (night one, that really p!ssed me) to 340! Cabin layout indeed shows 2-2-2 and it must be old biz! It really sux when they replace superior product with inferior one without even apology!
Sorry to hear and yes it sucks, but it is pretty normal practice that plane types change on routes depending on demands both seasonal or operational related, plane types on routes are never guarenteed. When the A380 was grounded, people flying e.g. EK were hit with a leap back to the last century on some routes (old style recliner F class vs blingy Suites with onboard showers). They didn't receive anything, not as much as an apology.
Reason why some people stick with certain carriers is their standardisation across the fleet, no surprises no matter what aircraft swaps take place!
TRB: TG doesn't have any pre-historic 747's flying anymore. In fact, if you fly First on the 747 you'll likely end up with their latest semi private suite, very nice indeed!
You've misunderstood me KG. No doubt TG has upgraded its product to keep up with the times. I'm merely alluding to Serg's fondness for aluminium rather than composite aircraft.
Thai is not one word airline, it far more expensive in biz to Europe and HEL is close and more convenient to my final destination being St Petersburg. But you right – if I would have a choice, I would choose upper deck on 747 – reverse window seat in BA is my favorite.

Yep, I love BA for this merit - does not matter if they change anything, seats are standard.

Don't worry, Serg. I know what it feels like.

It serves to fly from markets where the competition offers a superior product.
I don't believe AY even has competition on the BKK/HEL sector! - I stand to be corrected.
No surprises then that they've downgraded their product on that sector.
Serg, given your penchant for retro technology, I'm surprised you've not flown on TG's 747 via LHR, FRA or MUC.

Retro = Aluminium
Modern = Composite
