Er...how do you have someone booked in 44B? I thought the booking regulations allowed 2 at most. (Or does he/she sit in 44E and move over to 44B later on throughout the flight?)
I would definitely go for the Skycouch, since the FFQ seating doesn't really have advantages.
Have you considered reserving 44A and 44C? I've booked to window and aisle seats before when flying with someone else and have always ended up having the skycouch to ourselves. Maybe you could go 44A, 44C and 37D, 37E? If not, just take the first option you listed, because there isn't much extra benefit to row 37 other than being close to the front. hope this helps

Air New Zealand - 777-300 Economy Seating
We are flying next month back from the US via Auckland and for the LAX to AKL flight are wondering which seats we should pick
We are flying economy but there is the chance of a PE Upgrade 48hrs prior to flying
We are traveling as a group of 4 people and currently have the following seats selected
44A, 44B, 44C and 44D (Sky couch and one on the aisle)
We also have access to the following seating choices
37D, 37E, 38D and 38E (Frequent Flyer Seating)
So that leads me to my question
Which one is better the Skycouch with 3 People on it or the FFQ Seating
Now I know we can't use the skycouch with 3 people on but the foot rest pops out half way to provide more support

Hi Alvin, I think you can reserve all three seats of the skycouch granted that you're only paying for the normal economy fare.

Yeh So
Months ago we selected our seats which are 44A, B, C and D
That was when the system allowed standard web bookings to select economy seats in the back 3 rows of sky couch but you are not meant to use the couch
Since then ANZ has changed the system and you are no longer allowed to do that although they have not moved our seats
I have attached screen shots of the My Bookings Page
and the only benfits I can really think of with the FFQ Seating is priority boarding and getting off the aircraft faster and into the lounge!
