So I have booked an Air New Zealand flight across the ditch using Air New Zealand Airpoints but I want to claim the status from the flight on my Velocity Account.
Is that even possible?

Firstly, to accrue Velocity points/status credits on an NZ flight, it has to be booked on the VA website as to have a VAXXX flight number.
Secondly, you cant' earn airpoints or status credits on reward flights.
So, no, it is not possible

You CAN earn points on an NZ flight number, however there is no earning on rewards flights

Koru17, I think that may have changed. I took a flight SYD-AKL a couple of weeks ago with ANZ, booked via ANZ, entered ion my Velocity. Last week I looked at my statement and I was awarded Velocity points for that flight even though I booked via ANZ.

Broderick, thanks for that, that is a nice wee surprise! It will be good to earn status on VA flights without an NZ flight number. However I think I will still stick with NZ becuase of the better on-board product. Good alliance across the Tasman

100% agree with you Koru17. Whether you fly an A320 or 777, the product on ANZ is superior.
