Brisbane - Nanjing
I am going to China in a few weeks and was wondering if anyone has any advice on the airline and routing. I can go with QF via Honkers and then with KA (do I get SC's with Dragon?) or I could go to SYD and then get the MU non-stop code share on a QF flight number. CX is too high priced for my dates. Going to SYD from BNE works well as I can fly on QF 8 so that appeals to me in the whole scheme as it is timed well.

You get status on Dragon as it is a oneworld affiliate.
Relying on international flights for domestic can be problematic as they can be late etc.
The option with MU sounds good, but I'd probably go direct from BNE to HKG and then Dragon to Nanjing just as I don't think MU product is great (mind you either is QF's A330's). What about SYD-HKG-Nanjing on QFA380?

Cheers hutch, that's pretty much my question, whether the MU product is worth going to SYD for but the SYD HKG option with a380 is worth a thought even though it is an extra flight. I will be travelling in may so BNE SYD is 40 extra SC's woo hoo too :)

I would opine that MU is not worth going to SYD for, versus the QF A330 - but the QF A380 is definitely worth going to SYD for, connecting on KA.

Plus there is the QF HKG lounge... and all the Cathay lounges too!
