As most of you know, Qantas will be changing its points and status credit earning table from July 1st 2014. I have noticed that the status credits received on a one way trip in discount economy between Cairns and Sydney, is the same as that of a one way trip in discount economy between Cairns and Brisbane. Does this mean it will cost the same amount of points to upgrade between CNS & SYD, and, CNS & BNE? If so great!
Nett result = your QFF points are being devalued. Wait for the spending rates to increase in the near future and you'll find yourself at least 20% relatively worse off for most redemptions.

No it doesn't.
The earning tables have changed but the spending tables (including upgrades) remain the same for the time being.
So, your CNS-SYD upgrade will cost the same amount of points as it does now.

Burn rates have already increased for upgrades. They occurred in the last round of devaluations.
