Status Credits for QFF on a BA flight.

I got a really good deal on BA, SYD-SIN return, paid for business class, they offered me an upgrade to first class for AU$600 each way, so for the start of my break I have taken up the offer. (Happy to be slumming it in business on the way back to work).

Anyway, will this flight earn status credits at the normal first class earning rate on the sector for which I have paid to upgrade? (Flying prior to the QFF status credit enhancements announced by AJ). And if any commenters have any experience of BA first class on SYD-SIN I'd be really grateful for any quick reviews. (The reviews on this site are excellent but only cover Business class on this sector/airline)

Should do, but it all depends on what Class BA is using for the upgraded segments- it needs to go into A or F.

BA now uses a 777 on SYD-SIN. The new first on this plane (introduced in 2012) is nice with a funky double window and decent space, albeit not as much space as many. Search for BA 777 first review and you will find some reviews on the web.

There are still some planes with an older product but according to an online tracker BA16 now seems to get the new birds.

Thanks mate, the B777 has been the only one BA use for a while but your comment about them been the newer birds confirms my suspicions as I have often seen the BA B777 with the new BA coat of arms on the livery parked up at SYD.
