I'm considering taking a JetStar flight that arrives into SIN terminal 1 and then taking a CX flight from terminal 1 that leaves 50 minutes later. Will that be enough time as long as JetStar lands on time? Would I need to pick up bags and check in at SIN? I'll be flying from REP and in business on CX.
I wouldn't cut it so fine with any airline - even without bags.
Even if you were running on time, by the time you picked up your bags from the JQ flight, you'd be on the brink of having the CX check-in counter closing on you (online check-in may not be possible when carrying bags).
I imagine your JQ flight would be spent anxiously checking the time. Give yourself some breathing space for sure!
Time between flights at Singapore terminal 1 = departure of outbound flight - arrival of inbound flight. Same as any other terminal at SIN, or indeed any airport.
If we define L as being the layover time, Ai as arrival time of the inbound leg and Do as departure time of the outbound leg, we have the formula.
L = Do - Ai
For example, if the inbound flight arrived at 17:45 and the outbound leg departed at 19:00, the layover time can be derived as such:

Enough time? No. MCT is one hour on the same ticket, barring SQ and MI (45 min).
Arriving on Jetstar, you will need to clear immigration, collect your bags and clear customs, then check-in again for your CX flight.
Long story cut short, 50 minutes is not enough.

Between two separate tickets, I wouldn't dare try a connection less than 90 minutes in SIN, and would recommend you take at least 120 minutes.

L = 19:00 - 17:45 = 01:45
Thus your time between flights is 1h45m.
