Can anyone provide me with a genuine reason to fly Qantas International. As along term plat 1 ff i am most disillusioned.Fares are among the highest on all routes they fly.I agree on some routes they fly from the US they offer generally the best service but on others sectors it varies big time. But why does QF in flight service in first and business vary from excellent to perfetic on just two sectors constantly.Meals service is the same, but better out of SYD. And in my opinion the first class lounge in SYD is the best, but its no reason to buy a high end ticket Chauffeur drive at least to the US is now gone as is the p hotline.Enlighten me.. please does anyone feel it will get any better.

Robert, it'd obviously depend on many factors, including destination. For Sydney to Hong Kong for example Qantas has one flight daily while Cathay Pacific has four and there's no doubt that CX has a much better business class than Qantas. But if I was flying from Sydney to New York, for instance, I'd be more likely to fly Qantas business class either through LAX to NY or to DFW and then onto New York with American Airlines, than with Virgin Australia (their business class isn''t nearly as good), United or Delta. Of course if I was flying to London or Europe there are so many alternatives to Qantas, that's for sure!

Qantas is still the safest airline in the world,it has the best 1st cass lounges with fast track in Australian airports .the a380 is still a great aeroplane to fly on ,the wine's are amongst the best in the world. I myself would always put safety befor price anytime but that's me !! And above ever thing else it's 100 percent Australian owned,no other Airline can boost that .fly Qantas and support your fellow Australian work colleagues!!

Are you a Qantas board member? Or AJ hiding behind a computer?

I would fly Qantas "just for support" if it was government owned. Otherwise I feel that extra price going to someone pocket. QF safety record is good, but it is also good for plenty of other airlines.

Actually it may. Problem that it will fly only London and Los Angeles like Air New Zealand.

I'm not sure that this forum will convince you either way to fly them or not.... If you have no reason to fly them, whether it be for points or status, then you need to fly the airline that works best for you from a price, points etc perspective. I tend to fly the airline that suits me the most and it's not something that anyone else really can dictate for me....

Robert, you on here often enough with mostly neagtive comments on Qantas. I think you answer your own question. Some people enjoy flying QANTAS (I mostly do) and others will never set foot on their planes... find what works for you.

As you're a Plat/P1 you definately fly more than me, no dispute there. But if you are not enjoying those miles, why not just try another carrier? Across the pacific, I would still say that QF is the lead carrier... its just a shame they dropped airport transfers for J/F

It's great to get 'info'...but ultimately I would do what works for me....Sounds like you've already made your mind up, and just want 'justification' from others for your decision... but other peoples criteria may be different to yours!!
good luck

Guys,
I respect all comments.I guess what iam asking is would you do QF on one route from say the US.Say Emirates between AUST and New zealand. And another carrier to LHR or Europe.I am more about service and fares than FF points and p 1 at Qf is nothing.
