AA miles purchase. I understand that I can only buy 180k miles a year. Can someone tell me when the new year starts? Is it your membership anniversary or December or..... Do theses miles expire?

It's 80k per year and it follows the calander year (resets on 1 Jan).
As for expiry, from AA's own FAQ:" miles do not expire as long as you have qualifying account activity at least once every 18 months"

However you can gift to your partner/friend/father/mother/son/daughter and all of them to you.
