Hi, Im flying from Brisbane to Perth departing on VA462 next Friday, and My father and I decided to try out their business class. Has anybody had any experience with their A330 coast to coast business?

Well we used to be Qantas passengers, but now Virgin has the coast to coast services out of Perth we swapped.
Found the service is very good, food is great. The staff are more accommodating especially when travelling with children. Only down side is they do have two ex Emirates A330s which the business class isnt as nice, the configuration is 2-3-2 and the seating is more like a premium economy product. So if you get the newer aircraft you will be fine.

my oh my..how peoples 'expectations' change over time...describing the exEK business class seats as 'more like premium economy'...How many airlines have 60in pitch/nearly flat/sloped seating in their premium economy cabins?? (and just to note, VAs newer 330s J/C seats also have 60in pitch/nearly flat/sloped seating..just a different design and an extra 1.4in seat width..refer to VAs website to see both versions seatmaps/info :-)

Try doing a redeye from perth to sydney on one then your view might change, the seat itself is very uncomfortable. I have a few people I know complain they use them on night flights.
And yes peoples expectations have changed when your paying $1700 or so oneway.

you, yourself described the 'seating as more like premium economy'..so i was simply referring to your description of the physical seating....not opinions of it's comfort, which you didn't mention in your first post..'seating' is a physical...'comfort' is a variable.

Ive used it a couple of times, only on the newer 2x2x2 configuration. As Sim1 said, food excellent, service pretty good. Probably the best domestic experience I've had...
If you're lucky enough, they have sale fares of $1,000 each way sometimes...

Hey djcz,
As mentioned there are two different A330s running the coast-to-coast - the newer 2-2-2 config being far more comfortable for a red-eye flight. If you're not looking to sleep, both configurations are more than adequate to enjoy some of the finest food, beverages and service offered on an Australian domestic flight.
Hope you two have an excellent trip!

The seat, the food and the service are all great. The East Coast lounges are generally pretty good (Perth is old, but a new one will open in the new terminal when it's completed), the priority check in and security can be handy time savers, and priority baggage means you can be first in line for a taxi. I've always had a positive experience flying business on Virgin's A330 Coast to Coast services, so no complaints from me.

The A330 coast to coast business services are fantastic. But some of the other posters are right, the 2 older ex-Emirates planes are not overly pleasant. The seats are really uncomfortable.
I unluckily got this aircraft for the first time last month. I was pretty shocked, being used to the newer A330. I chatted with the attendants about it and they said they really disliked the older A330s. They were saying it's their embarrassingly shabby. But in saying that, the meal and service was great as usual.
Make sure you ask for an amenities pack if you want one now, as they told me that they're not handing them out as a routine anymore and passengers need to specifically ask for them.
