Lan tam.

I am travelling to brazil in two weeks and transiting via SCL ( biz class) through Rio to POA. the lounge info is dodgy on the lan -tam site says tam will admit star alliance gold member in there lounge???? is this right and if we a re fly premium econ ( which is all they have SCL- to GIG so does this entitle us to lounge in scl for lan or tam. very confused , i can also buy enmtry in admirals club in GIG but just dont know what to do etc .

rich5011,

Have you tried the lounge finder tool on the Oneworld website?

TAM has left the Star Alliance.  Star Alliance Gold members do not have lounge access privileges when flying with TAM, unless they are otherwise entitled to access through class of travel.  If you are arriving into SCL on a oneworld carrier then the oneworld transit rules apply: because you are connecting from a long-haul oneworld flight in Business Class to a short-haul oneworld flight (presumably JJ) in Economy Class then you are entitled to Business Class lounge access during your connection.

thankj u for that , TAM website still had the following oin it , hence the question as i know they left the SA

The following customers can be admitted to the VIP lounges:

  • First class passengers flying on TAM or with companies in the Star Alliance, along with a guest;
  • TAM, LAN and Star Alliance Business Class passengers;
  • Passengers with Black or Red cards from the TAM Fidelidade loyalty program, Star Alliance Gold or Paid Membership cards who are traveling on TAM flights or with an airline from the alliance;
  • LANPASS Comodoro or Premium Silver passengers who are traveling on TAM flights.
yhaty still sits on there web age which makes it somewhat confusing....

As per the Oneworld lounge finder tool I suggested earlier. In particular the 2nd bullet point:

"Connecting between oneworld marketed and operated flights:

  • First and Business Class customers connecting on the same day of travel, or before 6am the following day, can access the lounge when travelling between an international long haul (aoneworld international long haul flight is defined as an international flight marketed and operated by any oneworld carrier with a scheduled flight time longer than 5 hours) and an international short haul or domestic flight (and vice-versa).
  • Lounge access will be determined on the international long haul ticketed flight (either First of Business Class) regardless of the ticketed class of travel on the international short haul or domestic flight."
(world wibe web) (DOT) oneworld (DOT) com (Forward Slash) ffp (Forward Slash) lounge-access

thank you for the heads up so we are treavellling c class to SCL and PE to GIG and then economy to to POA so presumably we can eneter the loung on scl and gig from what is said here , i am very grateful for that feedback as i have never been to south amewrica before and dislike traisping round trying to figure out whats what etc . we are all travelling in the same class both ways so seeems we should be fine cos i am in SA and hold elite status but that dont mattter a jot on this flight.
