Booking flgihts to NRT and I have a conundrum... Book via VA codeshare, which is cheaper (hooray!). Or book via SQ directly. The issues is not so much with the booking, but lounge access.
I understand that in SIN I'll have access to the SilverKris Lounge whether I've booked on VA codeshare or with SQ - but my concern is in NRT, where SQ has recipocal agreements in place with ANA for their lounges... if I book on the cheaper VA codeshare will I still have access to the ANA Lounge?
If you have only got velocity gold/platinum then you wont have any lounge access in NRT regardless of whether you're on the SQ or VA flight number. If you have star alliance gold, flash that card instead and you can use the United or ANA (i'd choose ANA) lounges. Was there in April and velocity got me nowhere but turkish gold did the trick.
If you are J you get lounge access anyway by Class of Service, so at NRT would get the ANA lounge, and in SIN the SilverKris lounge.
If in Y and Virgin Australia elite (either VA Gold or VA Plat) its nothing in NRT and the in SIN the Krisflyer Gold lounge (which is worse than SilverKris)..
FYI. It is useful when you ask these questions if you state What Class of Travel, and What Elite Status.

Thanks Carlous - Is your advice based on flying Y or J? (Or both?)

Kogglogs.Carlous's advice is for Y.
If you are J you get lounge access anyway by Class of Service, so at NRT would get the ANA lounge, and in SIN the SilverKris lounge.
