I just booked an international flight on Cathay Pacific through a travel agent. My first and middle name are combined when I look at the e-ticket. i.e. if my name is aaa bbb ccc, it shows up as ccc/aaabbbMR MR. My Qantas FF card shows my name as aaa ccc. Will I have problems using my status benefits or accruing miles if it does turn out that my first name is aaabbb instead of aaa? Cathay told me to ask the travel agent to add a space between my first and middle name, the travel agent insists that its correctly spaced.

This is quite common & occurs on most of my international bookings. I've never had a problem re: FF accrual (across multiple airlines).

The world isn't going to end, don't worry! Donatello, if the points don't go through you have a case to chase them up with QFF later on. Just keep the boarding passes and itinerary. I'd be more worried if my details don't match that on my passport.... ;)

Yeah mate - don't stress. As long as the name on your tix match the name on your passport, you'll be fine... And to match, there doesn't need to be spaces. It sounds fine. Also more important to your accrual of FF points and SCs is having your QF FF member number on your tix - but as Propofol88 said, if it doesn't happen automatically, if you've kept your boarding passes, you can submit a retroclaim for the missing points and SCs.

Some airlines depending on country of booking put surname last some first don't stress as long as the names match your passport note.middle names are not usually used on tickets .hope this helps!!

Very common with Cathay.
No problems in getting the QF Points/ SCs in my experience.
Note that the Cathay website is also very particular with the spacing on its ManageMyBooking
