Is being in a hotel reward program worth it? Do you sign up or shy away? What do you love and hate most?

I prefer hotel rewards program's where the hotels have an executive lounge like Hilton H'Honors program where in most they have free drinks and canapés between 5 and 7 and as a Platiunum member you get free access and free breakfast .
