Is Qantas Club worth it.While i have some status and do not pay for it directly i pay memberships for non qualifying staff and entrance is not guaranteed. This annoys me as American and to my knowledge no other airline turns people payed up members away and to airport restaurants. How stupid is Qantas they not only operate the lounge on behalf of One World, but actually lease the space at LAX TBIT. Years in the making they new all the loads of all carriers using the existing lounge and future projections ..Yet another serious screw up.And its worst just two days ago turning away Plat guests..give me a break on a nothing Wednesday nite. Then they have the gall to sell seasonal access over Christmas.Have the lost it.
They're turning away passengers from the LAX TBIT lounge due to the incomplete renovations of the First Class lounge. This is to maintain some sense of civility in the lounge which would otherwise be overrun by passengers on the lower end of the lounge access spectrum. I'm glad that they have made this common sense decision while accomodating those who are missing out with food vouchers.
Qantas Club membership, despite what some may believe, is not limited to the LAX lounge!
If said lounge access is essential, perhaps you could book your employees on United and buy them a Air Canada or United paid lounge membership?!
The first lounge is much smaller than the existing lounge. As a plat i cant wait, but you support buy your statement lying to payed customers so we plats get a seperate lounge – if it were not for these members the louge would not be what it is today.
Had they'd made the opposite decision and let these passenger into the lounge during these temporary arrangements, people would no doubt be on here complaining about overcrowding.
Apologies to David and Chris... it needed to be said. Feel free to moderate as you see fit.
As we always say, please keep conversations to the issue and not to the person making the comment.
I have moderated a number of posts to remove either personal attacks, inappropriate language, derogatory remarks, or comments that reply to such.
(A large number of posts were merely responding to these comments, so seeing 'Edited by Chris' on a post shouldn't create the appearance of that particular user having posted something inappropriate on its own accord.)
The topic is if paid Qantas Club membership is worth the expense, and if paid members aren't able to access a Qantas lounge to eat, shower and have a drink before what is a 13-14 hour flight, then discussing the value of the membership is reasonable.
Any further comments that are completely off-topic or discuss each other rather than the topic at hand will be removed.
For the record, I would regard the comments regarding flying alternate airlines with paid lounge memberships to be on-topic, as they are genuine alternatives if a traveller isn't satisfied.
Buy your mooks United Club or something so they can use the lounge even if travelling in Economy. Or put them in BusinessFirst if your business is as big as you claim.
If you read the initial comment Paa st and peter it is in regard providing a product and service.Qantas do no provide it... Happening right now to plat/gold guests.
Yes, it's pretty annoying the QF LAX lounge is always filled to capacity these days. But remember that it's a new lounge, and everyone wants to check it out (and rightly so, it's a cool looking one at that). Also morning/evening rushes arn't just a QF lounge problem - they're a general lounge problem, and you just have to be savvy about it - which would be easy if you had OW or *A elite status anyways, given the large spread of lounges in LAX.
IMHO Qantas Club is worth it when it's suitable for your situation... not everyone flies J or enough to rack up status, but that doesn't make them any less of a business traveller who share the same needs. Besides, let's not get elitist about lounge access... Surely everyone remembers the glee of their first lounge experience!
In respest to you Qantas own and oprerate the lounge on behalf of One World as i stated. My statement is in regard the very poor planing of this lounge.Note forward projections as i said a people may be denied acess such as Watson,Peter, and Paa.
ON ANY NITE REGARDLESS OF STATUS IF THERE IF THERE ARE NO SEATS YOU ARE TURENED AWAY.FIRST/PLATS/BUS just get higher $VOUCHERS
In relation to the OP, if the Qantas Lounge at LAX is your primary use of your QC membership, then currently I would not be buying a QC membership.
But if I disliked Qantas as much as Robert, I would not be flying with them. Qantas has its product, it is not the best and it is not the worst. But you basically know what you are going to get. Could it improve? Of course. Should we be free to criticise Qantas management when they continually 'miss the mark'? Absolutely. But is it deserving of the continued criticism from Robert (when he himself states that it is the best product between Australia and the USA)... No, I do not think so.
I have always said Qantas provides the best service from the US to Australia. And if there was a carrier that provided a better service in my opinion i would fly them. You to should read the initial statement its about providing the QF club members real service.Huch i do not no if you are plat/gold/p/j flying but if the lounge in LA is full and no seats are available upon your arrival..you will be denied..saw to fellow p passenger accept $100 vouchers last week because they were told by reception staff there were no seats.I ask even you is that good enough for Qantas and a three month old lounge.
