I am travelling on BA15 to Sydney and typing this in the QF lounge. I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about BA refurbishing their lounge? The food selection is average at best, the seats remain from when it opened as a joint BA/QF first lounge and are threadbare in places and there are now numerous electrical sockets held in place by gaffer tape and hand written notes stuck on saying out of service. In my opinion it is woeful for a business/first lounge. I was hoping some of the readers on this site may have heard if it was getting upgraded to match BA's tasteful understated first class offering?

I assume you are in SIN? The QF lounge is much better if the BA lounge is in such a sorry state.
(By the way, I recommend the earl grey martini from the QF lounge bar, if you're into that sort of thing. Also, if the barramundi with couscous is still on offer, that dish is stellar.)

Yes mate you assumed correctly, I am in SIN and the QF lounge is a far superior lounge.
i thank you for the suggestion on the drink but not my cup of tea, so to speak. Draught Heineken is ok for me. Though it is surprisingly warm, When I first moved to Perth I got so much ribbing about warm pommy beer, lol. How times have changed.
Your suggestion about the Barra with cous cous is also appreciated, I just finished it and it is spectacular as is the food in the bain-marie. For all the bad things about QF, their lounges are still the pick of the litter food wise matching CX in HKG I think.
as an aside, I was in the terminal five BA South lounge when I left LHR. Had the burger they were talking about on this forum a while ago. Not flash at all, plenty of tho use really tough bits of meat and possibly bone in it. Waiting staff seemed to go out of their way to avoid eye contact to not take any orders as well.

Glad you enjoyed the barramundi! The beer selections are extensive but not my cuppa, much prefer the cocktails that the boys at the bar cook up, but that's just preference.
Have a good flight tonight, woganfan!

BA's food offerings for lunch and dinner is pretty average but you cannot beat kippers and poached eggs for breakfast!
But you are right. It is not on par with QF's First Class Lounge.

We shall see what woganfan thinks of their breakfast. I trust we shall be signalled again upon his/her arrival in Sydney (at the delightful hour of 4:59am).

I am a him watson374. A very fresh foggy arrival in to SYD at bang on 0500 and first plane in to Sydney, (could almost be a song that). Glad I ate In the QF lounge in SIN as the main in F on BA was a little tough and over cooked for my liking. Fillet of beef with a char grilled king prawn. The soup for starters was nice though.
The breakfast on BA was outstanding though, really nice warm breakfast sandwich of scrambled egg, bacon, mushroom and tallegio cheese on ciabatta.

Oh I forgot, prior to the starter I got a little entree of sliced ham, cucumber with weird gelatinous goo underneath. I may not be the most food savy guy around but whatever it was, it certainly was not to my taste. The texture of it was all wrong in my opinion.

Without wanting to be contrary for the sake of it, I must say I was underwhelmed by the barramundi on the two occassions (I gave it a second go) I've tried it recently. I found it to have that classic mass-aquaculture funk about it...

Don't think it's contrary at all, it is your opinion and taste. It certainly won't be to everyone's taste and yo are free to share your opinion on this forum like everyone else. The stir fried pork looked good as well. Perhaps that is more your bag.

The stir-fried chili pork is not bad, but I'm a big fan of fish and found the barra to be my thing. It might just have been exceptional that day, though, but I find the cooking to be excellent.
Since we're sharing photos...

I too thought the barramundi in the SQ lounge was a bit average. It was nothing compared to the grilled mulloway snapper from the current first class lounge menu. OMG... It was multi orgasms for my taste buds that night.

Barramundi is overrated, and often dry. I suspect that the SIN Lounge serves siakap, which would explain why it was so juicy and tasty.
Either that or TRB has higher standards. /merciless self-doubt
