QF 108 06 Aug passengers stranded in LAX airport. Technical delay followed by expiry of crew hours. Qantas claims couldn't find hotel rooms in the early hours of the morning. Do they mean cheap rooms? I think so. Absolutely no shortage of rooms in LA right now. Another Qantas fail.
seems to be a bit of this unrelibility just now. I was on QF 11 last Thursday out of Sydney to LAX and had a nine hour delay for a replacement engine. Safety takes precedent over schedule, but does seem a bit odd.
Without knowing exactly what happened (as I believe this aircraft was late departing JFK)
It's also not just a matter of there being hotel rooms available.
Its being able to contact the hotels and book/activate hotel rooms, and arrange transport at what is presumably about midnight (given QF 108 departure time)
After spending about 10 hours at the airport, the passengers are now being transferred to hotel rooms. If all goes well, their flight is scheduled to leave almost a full day late at about 10.45pm California time on Thursday.

"Do they mean cheap rooms?" was a question, and it's not a bad one, either.
No hotel rooms available in the entire Los Angeles metropolitan area? Really?

Yes that may be the case but I really pity the people who can't use the lounge. But I guess they're insignificant right?

Los Angeles is a 24 hour city. Anything is possible at any time. Maybe they should've used Wotif. Just pathetic.

I'm not sure if you read the article properly, but passengers were sent to hotels in the morning.

Did they open the lounge all night and if so who got access?
