Business trip in October, 10 days departing SYD. Travelling to the states going to Arizona and Austin and also London for 2 nights. In the opinion of the well travelled people of AusBT would you do Sydney, USA, UK then back to SYD or would you do London at the front end?
I assume you're going to use an RTW ticket? Given you seem to prefer a one-way loop, I would do London first, because you'll be going back time zones rather than forward, which should help a little with the jet lag.
What cities in the US do you need to visit? I would suggest something like SYD-Asia-LHR-East Coast-West Coast-SYD.
Do London first for sure, If you are aiming to earn QF status credits BA, CX and QF all fly to london ex SYD (keeping the flights within OW). Also mentioned by Waston374 it will help with Jetlag, BA offer the new 787's LHR-JFK if your looking at routing through NYC to Austin and Arizona. To keep it in OW you can also connect onto American Airlines services within the US (or transatlantic if You wish).
Have a look at this link and play around with a booking travelling West departing and ending in Sydney. Fares when booking RTW fares with OW tend to be pretty good.
